Dr. Poorman is a native Oregonian who graduated from Oregon State University in 1984. He received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1988, where he graduated with honors (Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Missouri State Medical Association Honor Graduate Award). Dr. Poorman completed his residency training in internal medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in 1992, where he also served as Chief Resident, and then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at OHSU in 1995. He has been in practice with Northwest Gastroenterology Clinic since the completion of his training. His professional interests include inflammatory bowel disease, hepatobiliary disorders, and biliary and therapeutic endoscopy. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Poorman is married and has two children. When not practicing medicine he enjoys travel with his family, boating, reading, family history research and attending as many concerts by aging rock and roll artists as possible.
